Diablo 3 Affixes
Monster Affixes are special powers Unique, Champion, and Super Unique monsters can
have. These powers range from defensive to offensive powers. A Unique/Champion/Super
Unique monster can spawn with several powers on it, starting at 1 in Normal, 2 in
Nightmare, 3 in Hell, and finally 4 in Inferno. Each of them will show under his/her/it's
name. Minions that accompany Unique monsters also share their powers (although some
will not be used by Minions). Some affixes can only appear on monsters that have
a certain minimum level, while others can only appear on Uniques or Champions.
Note: The Affixes used by Super Unique monsters are fixed (ie. they always
have the same powers) and don't show up under the monster's name. Also, some Super
Uniques have stronger or weaker variations of the normal Affixes.
Monsters with this affix deal additional Arcane damage with each hit and spawn orbs that shoot a rotating arcane beam. The beams deal high damage and will kill unprepared players. In the beta monsters with this affix could summon Hydras. Only monsters with a minimum level of 31 can have this affix.
This affix can only be found on Champion monsters with a minimum level of 51. When a monster from the Champion group dies the remaining monsters go into a frenzy.
Monsters with this affix have the ability to summon a void zone on the ground that damages anyone standing on it. Only monsters with a minimum level of 22 can have this.
Monsters with this affix have higher resistance to lightning damage, deal lightning damage with each hit, and discharges lightning in random directions when struck. When a monsters with this affix is killed it will leave behind an orb that keeps spawning lightning for a short time. This affix can only appear on monsters with a minimum level of 26.
Pretty self explanatory. This can be found on monsters with a minimum level of 31.
Makes monsters run, attack, and cast faster. Can only be found on monsters with a minimum level of 31.
Can only be found on Champions with a minimum level of 31. This causes the monsters in the Champion group to be connected together by a fire chain that damages players who touch it.
Allows monsters to summon orbs that grow and explode after some time, causing cold damage and applying the Chill and Freeze debuff. The number of orbs that are spawned depends on the number of players in the game. 6 spawn in solo and an additional one will spawn for each extra player.
A Champion only affix that causes all champions to have their HP liked. This means that damage dealt to one monster will be shared with all the monsters in the group. Can be found on monsters with a minimum level of 51.
This affix can only be found on Unique monsters (not champions) and is hidden (it will not show under the Unique's name). It basically causes the Unique to spawn more minions that it would normally have, filling the battlefield.
Monsters need a minimum level of 31 to have this affix.
Allows monsters to create clones of themselves that deal the same damage and have the same HP as the original monster. When hit, the monster has a chance to create two clones. This affix is available on minions, Unique, and Champion monsters. Monsters need a minimum level of 26 to have this affix.
This causes all the minions to be invulnerable and gives the Unique 50% more health. Only crowd control skills work on these minions, but they are automatically killed when the parent monsters is killed. Can only be found on Unique monsters with a minimum level of 51.
Note: This affix has been removed from the game as of Patch 1.0.4. It is only being kept here for archival purposes.
This affix is pretty annoying. It causes the monster that has it to have a 25% chance to immobilize you every time they attack you. You cannot move while imprisoned but can still attack, making you an easy target. Only Spirit Walk will set you free. Can be found on monsters with a minimum level of 31.
Allows monsters to have a chance to knock the player back on ranged or melee attacks. After the initial knockback effect the player is also slowed. No minimum monster level is required for this affix.
Monsters with this affix create a glowing red sphere around themselves that causes any projectiles to move 50% slower than before. A minimum monster level of 8 is required for this affix. Can only appear on Unique monsters.
Monsters with this affix deal extra fire damage and leave trails of lava that deals fire damage to anyone standing on them. After the monster is killed, it drops a bomb that explodes after 3 seconds dealing large amount of fire damage. Only monsters with a minimum level of 8 can have this affix.
Similar to mortars in RTS games, this gives monsters the abilities to fire several projectiles that deal splash damage on impact. Monsters will only fire in the location they are facing and projectiles have a minimum range, so you can avoid it by moving closer to the monster. Shows up on monsters with a minimum level of 22.
Gives monsters the ability to fear players on both melee and ranged hits. Feared players run uncontrollably in random directions for 3 seconds. No minimum level is required for this affix.
Monsters with this affix "drop" pools of green goo that gives players standing on them a stackable debuff that damages them over time. Can show up on monsters with a minimum level of 14.
Gives monsters the ability to be invulnerable to all forms of damage for a short duration. Shows up on monsters with a minimum level of 22.
Another annoying affix. This allows monsters to teleport to nearby locations. For melee monsters, it allows them to reach ranged classes, and can be used by ranged monsters to move away from melee classes. Can be found on monsters of any level.
Monsters with this affix reflect a portion of the damage they receive automatically to the player. Monsters need a minimum level of 26 to have this affix.
Gives monster life leech, ie. each time they attack you they are healed for a percentage of that damage.
Allows monster to "suck it" players, pulling them to melee range. This is dangerous for ranged classes, and also interrupts spell casting even at point-blank range. The monster does not need a line of sight to pull you in, and minions with this ability cannot make use of it.
This one sucks for ranged classes. This affix allows monsters to spawn walls around the player, preventing them from escaping the monster's attacks. The walls are temporary to crumble after some time.
