If you are anything like me, then you have probably been waiting for Diablo 3 ever since you stopped playing Diablo 2 (over twelve years ago!). Well the wait is now over, because Blizzard has finally released an official Diablo 3 Release Date for the fans.
Both the digital and shop version will be released on the 15th of May. If you live in Latin America or Russia, the game will arrive a little later for you on the 7th of June.
If you don't have one already, you should take the time to create a Battle.Net account so that you can get right into the action when the game comes out. Note that having an account is mandatory and your old Classic Battle.net ID you used for Diablo 2 won't work with Diablo 3.
This release that is both for the normal version and for the collector's edition. For those interested, here is what is included in the collector's edition:
- The full version of Diablo 3 (obviously)
- A nice model of Diablo's skull to decorate your room with
- A 4GB USB stick that looks like a soulstone, with Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction on it
- Diablo 3 - Aesthetic Artifacts, which gives your Diablo 3 character glowing angel wings, an exclusive banner sigil, and two the Bottled Clod and Bottled Smoke Armour dyes
- A World of Warcraft exclusive pet called "Fetish Shaman"
- Three Diablo-themed portraits and army decal for use in Starcraft 2
- A behind the scenes movie detailing the creation of Diablo 3 from all the different perspectives of the people working on the game such as writers, programmers, artists, etc
- A 208 page art book full of art from Diablo 3 including early concept art too
- Twelve original soundtracks from Diablo 3 on CD to add to your collection
